Meet Tama Barry

Tama (he/him) is a compassionate and approachable Performance Psychologist dedicated to helping people build healthier, more meaningful lives. He works with individuals aged 16 and over, providing support for challenges related to:

  • Sport and Performance

  • LGBTQ+ identity, sexuality, gender

  • Neurodiversity (ASD/ADHD)

  • Stress, anxiety, depression

  • Trauma & life transitions

Tama takes a human-centered approach, using evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy. His goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

As a proud member of the rainbow community, Tama is passionate about inclusivity and intersectional understanding. He helps individuals, teams, and businesses navigate social and cultural challenges, fostering environments where authenticity and growth can thrive.

In addition to private practice, Tama leads psychology support for the Cycling and Diving programs at the Queensland Academy of Sport. Drawing from his past career as a professional ballet dancer, he brings a deep understanding of the mental demands of high-performance environments.

Outside of his professional life, he finds fulfilment in staying active at the gym, indulging in the comfort of a great coffee, and embracing lifelong learning. He remains open and curious, continually striving to grow personally and professionally while making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
